Cannon's Toothbrush, Mommy's New BFF

So I am working from home today, well working btw Cannon's naps.......we are home today because approximately six back teeth decided to break through over the past few days and it has caused my poor babe to endure - bleeding gums; tummy ache; diarrhea; fever; horrible diaper rash; painful gums; loss of appetite - it's just awful. I've tried everything that I can think of to help my poor guy - teething tablets; orajel; tylenol; a million different diaper creams; mylecon; popsicles; his favorite mashed potatoes; warm bath; cuddling - you name it I've tried it! Well I've tried everything Mommy logical I should say, but then there's Baby logic and for the baby who is still struggling to communicate where it hurts and what he needs that's when this Baby logic comes in handy for the times where I just can't really understand his baby vocabulary. After a fight to change his diaper, we did the next thing he hates apply the dreaded teething gel - after we get done he notices his toothbrush in reach looks at it for a moment and proceeds to stick in the exact spot he needs the most relief......genius......why didn't I think to give this to him earlier. Since he found this discovery it has been stuck in the same place in his mouth all day.......and it is this Mommy's new bff!!! It's tough being a  baby, I sure do love my smart little boy!!!

Crazy Boys Don't You Know That I Love You............

Wow I am a little embarrassed that I have gotten so behind on my blog but I guess it's for good reason, between 4 moves in 5 months, 1 business move, the openings of two new businesses, business travels, chasing after an on the go baby and trying to be the best wife, mom, family girl, and friend I can - I suddenly ran out of time to blog. I can't promise that my blogs from now on will be as detailed as they used to be, I am going to at least try to do my blog updates monthly, mainly so I can archive the life of my precious baby Cannon but don't get me all wrong I genuinely love to blog in general, however that part of my blog life will have to be on hiatus for a while : )

So here we go, so much has happened since my last blog but I will try to remember as many highlights as possible.

March

We celebrated Cannon's 1st birthday and Chandler's 30th birthday and had a great party to celebrate. We were so fortunate to have great family and friends present to join us on both of their special days! I am already planning birthday #2 and it's going to be fabulous, I love creating special memories for my special little guy even if his memory will have to be jogged by photos at this age that's ok with me : ) Eventually he will start retaining these special moments and traditions in his life and I want them to always be filled with lots of love, fun and laughter.

April

This year we celebrated Easter with going to church, a helicopter Easter egg drop (which was awesome @ Stonewater Church), and a Sunday brunch with family. It was a great day filled constant reminders of what the day was really to be focused on and that was on HIM and how he sacrificed his only son to save it all us all. It is definitely a mind boggling concept for me as a mother now, to comprehend the strength and faith it must take to give up your child for anothers salvation - when I think of having to sacrifice family for anyone, especially my only child selfish thoughts invade my brain, however in retrospect to sacrifice one pure, perfect one for the hope of saving millions, I can definitely see Gods bigger picture and I am truly grateful for every Easter we are reminded of the BIG sacrifice made on our behalfs as HIS children. Our little Easter bunny had a great time putting plastic eggs in and out of his Easter basket, he really didn't care about the contents of the inside of the eggs - he just liked throwing them, re-hiding them, and putting them in the basket and dumping them back out.

April 7th, 2011 - Cannon took his first independent steps. Of course it happened when I was out of town but Daddy caught it all on tape, so I was able to sort of experience the moment. He was at that almost point the week I left to go out of town on business and I just knew he would probably do it when I was gone and yep sure enough he did. The first week he was a little wobbly but now he is trying to run, he can walk up and down stairs and get into more stuff than ever! This month Cannon is 13 months and counting......

I had to go to Atlanta for a week in April on business. It was a great learning experience but I missed my little family like crazy and was so ready to get home to them. During that week my husband had to go to work, play Mr. Mom, and close on our new house by himself and he accomplished it all and I was very proud of him!

We moved into our new place of business in April, "Assurance Medical Diagnostics & More" and "Any Lab Test Now" is located in Avalon Town Center. We love our new place of business and are still settling in and organizing everything. I am looking forward to our Grand Opening in July for Any Lab Test Now.

May

Cannon ended his first year school and entered a new school. We absolutely loved Lakeside and so did he but they are closed in the Summer, so we had to find a new alternative. It took him a few weeks to adjust but he is now all adjusted and is enjoying his Summer school. In September, he will start Montessori school - I am so excited but sad at the same time! I can't believe he will be 18 months in September, wow how time flies. I can't wait to see how he does when he starts his new school, he is soaking everything up like a little sponge right now that I can't even fathom how much he is going to learn and retain.

At the end of May we moved into our new home, well about 5% moved in and the other 95% is in storage. Since we are doing a total remodel our GC did not want us to move hardly anything in, so we didn't and I have to say it's kind of nice to not have to worry about all of that dusting but what I like the most is that Cannon doesn't have much to get into, which is awesome since he is in that get into everything stage. We love our new home, it's located a little bit outside of Granbury and sits on about 11 acres. It's heavily wooded, so we really can't see anything outside of our acreage or hear any oustide noise, it's so peaceful!!! I am really looking forward to the remodel, so we can get all settled in and make it our home. The plan was to start the remodel in June but we've been so busy that we really haven't gotten around to it yet.

I celebrated Mother's Day #2 with Cannon, well #3 if you count when he was in my belly and yes I do count that! This is one of my favorite days of the year, I love getting to spend it with my sweet baby boy and of course my Mom and the rest of the family. I don't know what I would do without him, he is my everything and I am so blessed to get to be his Mommy. This year we basically just hung out at my parents ranch - we cooked out, fished, 4 wheeled, rode the dirt bike , rode the horse, played catch and hung out/chatted - it was a great day with the family my middle sis came down and that is always so nice to see her when she is able to come down. This month Cannon is 14 months and counting......

On the business front, we are frantically preparing for our Grand Opening of Any Lab Test Now......it seems like everything is going wrong. Nothing we have order is shipping right; our store front sign has not arrived; our contractor is dropping the ball on the build out; late night studying on new vendors, pricing, labs; failed advertising attempts and the list goes on and on BUT I have faith that God will get me through and our Grand Opening will all work out.

June

We had our Grand Opening of Any Lab Test Now on June 2nd for such a rushed event and minimal time to advertise, we had a pretty decent turn out. We gave away free lab tests, had drinks and food and announced our services. We had a great response from the ones who attended the Grand Opening, we just hope the word spreads like wildfire! We had a pretty good first month and are continuing to get more and more calls everyday. I have to say this business has been alot harder, than what I expected to be but I know that through consistent community education, we will continue to grow and get busier.

We took a road trip to Houston to celebrate my cousins highschool graduation. I can't believe they are about to be entering their first year of college, it just seems like yesterday that me and my sister were bossing him around, LOL! Eventhough, neither of them are going to Tech, I am still proud of them both. They both received awesome scholarships to OU and UTSA, so I guess I'll let it slide. My Aunt threw an awesome Grad party, lots of family and friends came and we had a blast hanging out and catching up and of course everyone couldn't get enough of Cannon but who can blame them!!!

I took another week long trip to Georgia for business and of course my hubby did an awesome job of being Mister Mom! I am so happy my business travels are over for awhile, I always hate to leave my two babes but enjoy learning new things to help improve the business, which also benefits our family so when I look at it that way it makes it a little easier to go but I am always ready to get back!

We took a road trip to Lubbock to celebrate my husbands grandaddy's bday. My mother in law make a great brunch and all of the family came over. We had a great time eating, hanging out and playing with our neices and nephews. It had been awhile since some of them had seen Cannon so of course he loved all of the extra attention!!! It's always a treat when we are able to visit our family in West Texas, I just wish we could do it more!!!

This month we took Cannon on the boat. It wasn't the first time he had ever been on the boat (the first time was when we was about 3 months), however it was the first time he got in the lake (which he isn't a fan of quite yet) and the first time he rode a sea doo (which he was a fan of). The boat and sea doo, actually soothed him to sleep several times throughout the day. My little water baby stayed out on the lake for 10 hours and did great, of course we were lathering sunscreen on him every 15 minutes it seemed like and constantly rehydrating him but he did awesome - we were so proud of him. This month he's 15 months and counting.

As far as the house, well as you can see we've had alot going on so nothing remodel wise started BUT we've been doing LOTS of yard work. It actually seems never ending! Thankgoodness our land is heavily wooded or we would get the most unkept yard in Granbury! Eventhough it's lots of upkeep, the peacefulness it brings is priceless, so I guess all the work is worth it......

July

Wow! Can you say - HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I am so tired of this extremely hot weather, our grass is literally frying!!! Plants are dying!!! Thankgoodness we have are own well or we'd be paying a fortune on our water bills for what is taking to keep the grass semi green!!! We've taken Cannon to the park a few times but we have found there is really not a good time to take him to the park b/c it is so hot but we take him despite our personal issues with the heat b/c he LOVES the slides and swings! In true toddler style he throws himself on the ground and continues on with a melt down when it's time to leave ALWAYS!!! In June he was reintroduced to the swimming pool and he was not a fan BUT his Poppa was bound and determined to make him get over his fear. On the weekend of the 4th we were all hanging out at my parents house and we noticed my Dad and Cannon were missing we look out the blinds and at 9 pm they are in the pool. We are all cracking up watching my Dad and Cannon.......they first start out sitting on the side with their feet in; then as they move onto sitting on the step, Cannon begins yelling at my Dad while my Dad proceeds to ignore him and keep repeating "it's going to be ok"; then he moves into the shallow part and starts swimming around with while Cannon continues to yell and hang on for dear life; then the yelling stops and Cannon is calm and slowly loosening his death grip from around my Dad's neck and is playing with a ball while my Dad holds him; we all slowly start to come outside to cheer him on and before our eyes, this little terrifed anti water baby has transformed into a fish.......it took my Dad about an hour to get him over his fear but he did it and now Cannon loves to swim and is quite independent. He will float around in his little floaty without a fear, we are so proud of our little lake/water baby!

Happy 4th of July! Our Houston family came down to celebrate and we had a blast! We went on the lake, hung out and cooked out. Went on the square to check out the downtown festivities and to shop. Popped fireworks (which the loud noise scared Canman, so we didn't get to do that for long). Watched the fireworks from the boat on the lake, we attempted to park the boat close enough to where the fireworks were going off to get the full affect but far enough away where the noise wouldn't scare Cannon. The first few booms startled him and he cried for a minute and them five minutes later he was out cold on his Daddy's chest! This month Cannon is 16 months and counting.......

The remodeling started  this month in the guest house and it is starting to look really good. After they complete the guest house, we will be moving out there while they finish the main house which could take 4-6 wks. The three of us in what practically is just one big room with a small kitchenette and bathroom......about 900 sq ft......eek wish us luck, we really aren't sure how we are going to be able to do this without really messing up Cannon's sleep schedule but I guess where there is a will there is a way. I am kind of dreading this little upcoming family adventure to be completely honest......

God really disciplined me this month, after day 20 of hardly any calls at Any Lab Test Now, I was beginning to wonder if I had just made a huge business mistake. Literally from day 1-20 this month, Any Lab Test Now, was like a ghost town - very little calls of interests and no sales!!! Yet I am spending a fortune on advertising; going to tons of local networking meetings; marketing and selling our hiney's off and the result NOTHING! Fortunately my other business that runs out of the same location was booming so that helped to off set Any Lab Test Now but still that is not good enough for this crazy, perfectionist business woman! My morning prayers were full of questions, "Dear God - why isn't this working?; how can we go from having a decent first month to nothing?; is this concept too new for Granbury?; is this just not the right business for this market?; am I not advertising in the right places?; am I a horrible sales person?; was this a mistake?; did I misunderstand your guidance on this business decision?; was I not listening to you and only listening to my own ambitions?; and my last prayer - I surrender this business to you because I am doing everything I can think of and nothing is working." From day 21-31- the phone started ringing; people start stopping in; local Dr.'s begin referring; networking buddies start referring - we end the month doing a tad better than the prior month, in only 10 days!!! God truly is amazing and the measures he takes to teach us patience and faith are incredible. Not as though this month will be the last hard month I face when it comes to business but I will continue to pray without ceasing in all aspects that I am needing an answer for........I know I may not always receive the answer I want but I know as long as I continue to lay it ALL in Gods hands he will eventually answer my prayers in all aspects of my life.

Well this blog concludes what's been going on with the "C" crew from March through July, it's been super busy and crazy but only by the grace of God do we manage to get through it. Hopefully I will find time at least, once a month to continue to keep everyone who's interested updated on what's been going on but since this Momma doesn't have time to scrap book, I really look forward to sitting down with Cannon when he's older and look back on these time. I am sure I am leaving out some other important events that happened during this time but when you get this far behind on your blog that's what happens!

Excuse my typos, I am at that I am too tired to care point. The pics to represent this month will have to come later, that's just expecting way too much at this point : ) But I will try to post some when I get a chance!!!

Until August - XOXO To My Family and Friends
